Why Homestead Students Take This Course

Being local to the range makes private training unusually practical for Homestead students — short sessions, more often, working one problem at a time. That is a far better way to build skill than one long class a year.

Homestead is where the Homestead Training Center is — the outdoor range we hold our live-fire courses at — which means students here have essentially no drive at all to the training the rest of the county travels for.

South Dade is also its own environment — agricultural, spread out, with long response times in the parts furthest from town. That is precisely the situation our mission statement describes: when the police are minutes away, you are the first line of defense.

What the Course Covers

  • Whatever you actually need — the session is built with you beforehand
  • Safe handling, storage, and the four universal safety rules
  • Grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control
  • Draw from the holster and from concealment
  • Tactical and speed reloads
  • Malfunction clearing under stress
  • Shooting on the move and using cover
  • Dry-fire practice you can continue safely at home

Where and When

Homestead Training Center · Typically 2–4 hours.

The range is right here in Homestead, which means local students can train often rather than once a year — and frequency is what actually builds skill.

We train outdoors deliberately. An outdoor range lets us teach drawing from a holster, moving between positions, shooting from behind cover, and working after dark — almost no indoor range in Miami-Dade permits any of it. More about the range.

Bring your own firearm and ammunition — we do not rent firearms. If you have not bought one yet, call before you book and we will talk through what to look for.

  • Holster and extra magazines

Can my spouse or a friend train with me?
Yes. Couples and small family groups are a very common request and ratios stay small enough that everyone gets real coaching time.

For many beginners, yes — no pressure, no waiting, no audience. That said, our group Introductory Course is genuinely beginner-friendly and some people prefer the energy of a class.
How flexible is the scheduling?
Very. Weekdays, evenings, and weekends. This is the right option if you work shifts or run a business.
